The dinosaurs are back and ready to roar

21 June 2016

Just in time for school holidays, the fearsome dinosaurs from Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous are ready to roar back to the Queensland Museum.

Opening June 21, Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous will see the museum come to life with 20 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs who ruled our planet millions of years ago.

“The exhibition features crowd favourites like the T-Rex, but also highlights home-grown dinosaurs such as Australovenator and Muttaburrasaurus,” she said.

“But no matter what the species, dinosaurs seem to instil a sense of awe and fascination to both the young and the old and I think that is part of their appeal.

“It’s amazing to think these enormous creatures once roamed the earth and to see them so lifelike and as they would have behaved in the wild is quite surreal.

“In 2015 over 230,000 people were amazed by the dinosaurs and we are expecting them to be just as popular again.”

Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous will once again be supported by a range of informative, hands-on children’s activities, and an augmented reality dinosaur app.

For the first time, the museum’s youngest visitors will be able to experience the magic of the exhibition after hours with three ‘A Night at the Museum’ events scheduled, which include family-friendly entertainment and activities.

And for when the kids are tucked up in bed, the popular After Dark series will allow visitors to step back in time to the Cretaceous era while enjoying a drink and pre-historic themed entertainment and music in this 18+ event.

Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous is now open at the Queensland Museum and will run until 9 October 2016.

Tickets are now on sale through QTIX or by calling 13 62 46.  Visit for more information.
