Little Learners Activities

0-5 Years

Our littlest learners and their carers are invited to join us for a short series of special activities. From getting hands-on with real museum objects and specimens, to exploring our galleries and collections through songs, stories and role-play, this program is designed to enhance children’s learning and development.

Little Learners sessions are held on the below dates from 10:00am to 10:30am. To join the session, please meet our Museum Educator at the activity location at 9:50am. Bookings for Little Learners sessions are not required. Please note, each session has a 30 person capacity. 

Activities and Dates:

Thursday 29 July – Spots and Stripes
Get up close with some spotty and stripy animal specimens, and help sort them through song and discussion. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 5 August – Sharing Stories of the Land, Sea and Sky 
Be inspired by the re-telling of traditional Torres Strait Islander stories of the land, sea and sky, reflect on what ‘home’ means to you, and weave your own creation. Location: Theatrette, Level 2.

Thursday 12 August – Eggsactly
Discovery the amazing variety of egg-laying creatures through reading, activities and exploration of museum specimens. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 19 August – Fantastic Fossils

Join us for story time, learn how fossils form, and explore some real fossil specimens with your magnifying glass and torch. Location: Lost Creatures, Level 2.

Thursday 26 August – Green Frogs

Learn about Queensland’s beautiful frogs, make your own green frog, and leap into song. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 2 September – Busy Beaks
Explore a range of Australian birds through story time, activities and investigation of specimens. Location: Wild State, Level 4.
