Little Learners Activities

0-5 Years

Our littlest learners and their carers are invited to join us for a short series of special activities. From getting hands-on with real museum objects and specimens, to exploring our galleries and collections through songs, stories and role-play, this program is designed to enhance children’s learning and development.

Little Learners sessions are held on the below dates from 10am to 10:30am. To join the session, please meet our Museum Educator at the activity location at 9:50am. Bookings for Little Learners sessions are not required. Please note, each session has a 30 person capacity. 

Activities and Dates:

Thursday 21 October – Incy Wincy Spiders
Get up close with some eight-legged specimens, join in some singing, and make your own spider. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 28 October – If the Hat Fits
Explore hats from many cultures, make your own hat, and join the hat hunt through the gallery. Location: Anzac Legacy Gallery, Level 1.

Thursday 4 November – Busy Bees
Learn about these important insects, join us for story time, and make your own busy bee. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 11 November – Sharing Stories of the Land, Sea and Sky 
Be inspired by the re-telling of traditional Torres Strait Islander stories of the land, sea and sky, reflect on what ‘home’ means to you, and weave your own creation. Location: Theatrette and Hibiscus Lounge, Level 2.

Thursday 18 November – Totally Turtles
Learn about Queensland’s marine turtles, enjoy a story, then make your own creature to take home. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 25 November – Dino Dance Party

Celebrate the final Little Learners activity of 2021 by making your own dinosaur mask and joining the dino dance party! Bring along your morning tea, as eating is permitted in this space. Location: Dinosaur Garden, Level 0.
