Common marine crustaceans

Two kinds of crustaceans

Queensland has a greater diversity of marine species and habitats than any other state. The Great Barrier Reef is home to a remarkable array of crustaceans of all forms, with many still to be described. The sheltered coastal waters, with many estuaries and rich mangrove forests, are the perfect nursery grounds for a thriving prawn and crab fisheries. Many thousands of species of crustaceans can be found, but only a few of the most common can be highlighted here.
