Investigating Insects

Audience: Prep - Year 5
Availability: Queensland school terms, 2021.

How can we tell if an animal is an insect and what makes them so special?

In this program, students will:

  • Investigate insect specimens just like a Museum scientist
  • Learn why museums collect and study these amazing animals
  • Explore insects up close with museum collections and real, live insects 

Exhibitions that support further exploration of insects include the Discovery Centre and Wild State.

Learning Outcomes

Investigating Insects complements Science Understanding, Science Inquiry Skills and Science as a Human Endeavour descriptors in the Australian Curriculum.
