Visit us

In line with Queensland Government regulations, all visitors are required to wear a mask in all museum buildings. Children under 12 years and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt. Learn more.

For free general admission, simply arrive at Level 2 to enter the museum between 9:30am and 3pm (doors close at 4pm).

SparkLab and some special exhibitions and events are paid ticketed experiences. For SparkLab, buy tickets and book your session before you arrive. For great value and unlimited entry to SparkLab, buy an Annual Pass today.

Please note Queensland Museum is closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Open Anzac Day from 1:30 pm.

Tips for planning your day

  • As part of our COVID safe plan, you’ll need to use to Check In Qld app before you enter the museum. Upon arrival please use the app to scan the QR code to check in and show our friendly staff the successful check in screen.
  • If we reach our capacity inside, you may have to queue for a short time before entry via the Level 2 door (near the pedestrian bridge to QPAC) and exit is via the Shop.
  • We’re open between 9:30am and 4pm and we are busiest in the morning before lunch.
  • To extend your visit experience, our shop team have produced a number of show bags and items to make your time a memorable one – see them all here.
  • We prefer cashless payments at our shops and Café Muse, so please bring a contactless bank card.

Food and Drink

  • Café Muse on Level 2 (enter via the Whale Mall) offers the best dino nuggets in town, great coffee, grab-and-go snacks, hot meals and treats the whole family.
  • Prefer to BYO? Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy our Dinosaur Garden outside on Level 0. 
  • Water bubblers are available so bring along your water bottle and refill on the go. 
  • To help protect and preserve our collections, food and drinks cannot be consumed inside the museum. 

Family Visits

Pram access
The museum is accessible for parents bringing prams or strollers. Lifts are located centrally inside the building to enable access to all levels of the museum. Unfortunately, the cloak room is currently unavailable due to COVID. 

Family room
There are two Family Rooms located on Level 0 and Level 2. A fold-down change table is also available in the toilets on Level 1 and inside SparkLab. View the map.

Child-friendly eating
Café Muse on Level 2 has child-friendly menu options. High chairs are available upon request. BYO picnics and eat outside in our Dinosaur Garden on Level 0.

To keep you safe, we have updated our conditions of entry in line with COVID-19 restrictions:

  • In line with Queensland Government regulations, all visitors are required to wear a mask in all museum buildings. Children under 12 years and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt. Learn more. 
  • Visitor numbers are capped in accordance with government guidelines, thank you for your patience while you wait.
  • Contact information is required for all visitors upon entry.
  • If you are unwell, we ask you not to enter and to please come back when you are feeling better.
  • We'll have signage and alcohol-based hand sanitiser, available to help you to practice social distancing and good hygiene.
  • Some displays and exhibits might be closed. Thank you for understanding.
  • We can only let a few people into our bathrooms at once. Please be patient and give priority to people with special needs.
  • Please be kind and respectful to our team members, they are here to help.
  • Please follow the directions of our friendly staff, they are here to help keep you safe.
